Why this site exists

Information in Malaysia is scattered. A rule changes and you only find out three weeks later from a WhatsApp forward, usually with half the details wrong or already outdated. Official announcements are written like legal notices. News sites bury the useful part under ten paragraphs of build-up.

We wanted one place that just explains things properly. What happened, what it means for you, and what you actually need to do about it. In plain English, without the drama.

Who is behind it

My name is Dylan Goh and I am from Penang. Life in Malaysia started as a hobby project, built out of the simple fact that I love this country and wanted somewhere to put everything I keep learning about it.

Articles are published under the Life in Malaysia Editorial Team byline. For now that team is mostly me, with AI assistance for research and drafting, and a human reading every piece before it goes live. We think you deserve to know that rather than pretend otherwise.

There is no shortage of places to argue about those things online, and none of that argument helps you renew a passport, check whether the haze is bad tomorrow, or understand what a policy change means for your loan. This site sticks to the practical.
